In my opinion, this blog is completely the fault of Mark Boulton, as he is writing all the witless bits. I’m not sure I like his writing style much – writing and style should not be in the same sentence when it comes to Mark’s writing. Please check out the Fixed Versus Variable disclaimer I have written for him. It is the best post on this whole blog (if it hasn’t been stuffed up yet).
Mark originally was an Applied Science graduate, and worked scientifically for about eight years as an analytical equipment supplier to the wine and pharmaceutical industries. Yes – booze mixed with drugs did set Mark apart from others in his earlier career!
Then he had a big change and tried to teach English in Russia for nearly a year. His students ended up teaching him passable Russian apparently, but I’m not sure how they benefitted from this.
After having a great time over there, he came back and started a mortgage broking business. He built it up with a business partner or two over about a decade, somehow they won an award for having the best mortgage broking business with more than six loan writers in Australia, and a bunch of other awards. It is always good to have the right business partner, I say.
He started this blog as an excuse to bum around the house in his slippers. I think this is what he always truly wanted to do after leaving Mortgage Broking.
Mark has a keen interest in a lot of things. While I did realize that the area of finance and investment was one of these, I didn’t ever think he liked it enough to actually do any work in the field. He has an investment analyst’s grad dip from a tertiary institution, and has been helping some of his close friends decide on how to lose their money.
The plan is for him to gouge huge profits out of this enterprise eventually. More likely somebody will pay him not to write. I’ll enjoy watching him prostitute himself for every cent with great amusement. I’m sure you can’t make any money out of a badly thought out blog.
If he cannot find any interesting things to blog about or if he puts in any really annoying advertisements, I will not be keeping an eye on this blog for very long. I also recommend you deal with any transgressions of good taste and intelligence very harshly as well.
That definitely covers all the points he wanted not mentioned. You have been warned!
